The future Rubi line in Vila Nova de Gaia, Rotunda Station

The Santa Marinha Design District will benefit from a direct metro link to Porto city center with the future Rubi line project. With work scheduled to start in 2023, this line will provide a link between Casa da Música and Santo Ovídio, with 8 new stations, one of which will be the Santa Marinha Design District traffic circle, plus two tunnels and a new bridge over the River Douro.

The station in the Santa Marinha Design District will be located in the center of the traffic circle and will have a range of support and leisure facilities, as well as an underground parking lot.

This new metro line will also be connected to a rail interface in Devesas, with CP’s North Line, as well as to the future high-speed train line linking Lisbon to Vigo.

Scheduled for completion in 2026, this project will boost sustainable mobility in the region, benefiting more than a million people. There will be an additional 6.3 kilometers of metro line that will add social, economic and environmental benefits quantified at 900 million euros.
